Tasco StarGuide Scopes

In the year prior to going out of business, Tasco sold a line of scopes know as "StarGuide".  These scopes were designed by Celestron and are virtually the same as the NexStar 60/80/114/4 scopes.

The major differences are:

  • Smaller database in StarGuide hand control
  • The StarGuide hand control is the one with all the bugs like the original NexStar GT hand control as discussed here
  • Tasco never issued a replacement hand control like Celestron did
  • Tasco is out of business

You may purchase the user upgradeable hand control from Celestron and gain several new features as well as improved tracking.  Basic info on the new hand control is here.
